1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
"Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."
Since it is officially thanksgiving, what a better time than now to give thanks for all that is good. I wish I could say I thank God every day for all He does for me. I, unfortunately, and honestly, am not that holy. I am fully aware that He is with me every day through the highs and the lows and I am exceptionally grateful for that. It's when the lows become highs that I think I'm aware of it most. I begin to pray at the peak of my stress asking for an answer or for things to go a certain way. Then once things start looking up, I remember to give thanks and that's pretty much that. I feel hypocritical sometimes for mostly giving credit where it's due after something good happens to me. I don't always show appreciation for the little things in life that make it feel worth living. For example, I love frozen yogurt. That doesn't mean that every time I get frozen yogurt I say a quick prayer giving thanks. I think it's important to remember to do that. Because who knows, maybe one day I'll become frozen yogurt intolerant or I won't be able to afford to go to Cherry Berry anymore. This is obviously the least concerning thing that could happen to a person but the point is, you never know when your life is going to take a turn. Give thanks for the things and people that make you happy and remember who lined your acquaintance with them up. I know nobody wants to hear it but, one day if we don't have that stuff in our life, we're going to wish we appreciated it more when we did.
